Farmworker Association of Florida

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023! We are so excited about the continuing and new collaborations planned for this year. We hope this year will be a year of continued growth that normalizes the use of data and the collection and use of independent, community-based research initiatives across the nation. We and our partners have developed a community-centered train-the-trainer model to provide both rapid response consulting and sustainable independence for communities tackling environmental justice issues. We are also working to break down silos, knowing that all justice issues are connected and we must create interdisciplinary interventions and methods of prevention.

This month, we would like to highlight some of our partners in this work.

This week, get to know The Farmworkers Association of Florida. Unfortunately, discussions of climate, environmental, and social justice issues often neglect to include this community of essential workers who keep the nation fed and moving. Learn about their work, the history of agriculture in the U.S., and their approaches to engaging a multi-lingual audience. I have even had the privilege of interviewing the organization's Jeannie Economos. I hope you will look for ways to engage with this organization and others more local to your area.
